A sure fire winning strategy for Republicans

Hey Republican candidates running for Congressional office in 2008: try getting on the same page and support a comprehensive proposal to drill for oil anywhere and everywhere America has interests to bring oil prices under control and pledge to build more oil refineries and build more nuclear power plants and the American people will get behind you in November in a big way. Americans are fed up with do nothing Congressional members and want real answers to real problems and not just more mealy mouthed platitudes.

Americans want a real comprehensive energy policy with real teeth in it. This will also require John McCain and all Republican office holders as well as candidates running for Congressional office to all get on the same page. Americans at this point does not believe you represent their interests so what have you got to lose besides some of your chummy liberal Democrat friends.

Draft a plainly worded sworn pledge that every American can easily read and understand and sign it at a major public event like Newt Gingrich did in 1994 and get a copy of it into the hands of every conservative and Republican voter ASAP and make sure McCain most importantly signs it as well with no wiggle room left in it for McCain to escape after the election and you will most certainly win and take back control of Congress with large margins. Then stick to it after you all take back the Congress and the Whitehouse. It's really that simple guys and gals. So what's standing in your way? Those Democrats and tree huggers are not your real friends.

This would be a good start if the republicans would only do it. The problem as I see it is that there is now a deliberate effort to move the party to the liberal left - to blur the lines between the philosophy of the two partys. Big government will only grow bigger and more corrupt. Republicans have lost their moral compass. So many democrats left their party through the years and became republicans in name only. The republican party is doomed for failure and that is there own fault. I believe it is time to look somewhere else if things are to change.
The problem with your scenario Ron is that John McCain is in the hip pockets of the left greeny weenies enviro whack jobs. If conservatives could manage to drive a wedge between him and his loony left liberal base then the rest of the Republicans might get on board. Right now McCain is providing cover for them. They seem bent on snatching defeat from the jaws of a victory. After all polls show that 60% of Americans want us to drill in ANWR and the OCS. Beats me why they are choosing to lose.
